Work Preparation Programme GATES has successfully supported clients on this programme since 1997. We are acutely aware of the additional barriers faced by our clients and the associated stigmas attached to mental health problems. The course includes personal development, jobsearch and work placements and aims to help clients develop the necessary skills and confidence to fulfil their vocational aspirations. Group and individual activities focus on cv writing, application forms, interview techniques, a range of job finding/keeping behaviours i.e. stress management, motivation, coping strategies, communication, etc. Clients will be expected to attend for a minimum of 12 hours per week, up to a maximum of 12 weeks. Referrals can be made direct to GATES but all clients will need an appointment with a Disability Employment Adviser at the Jobcentre prior to joining the course.
